Jamaican runner Usain Bolt has won several Olympic gold medals and holds the world record for running 100 meters in 9.58 seconds. Now, he is preparing to hit the tracks at Rome's Golden Gala by building muscle, according to news provider AFP.
In article, author Barnaby Chesterman said that Bolt has been looking ripped lately, adding bulk to his towering figure.
"I put a little bit more muscle on this season, I've been doing a lot of work strength-wise and core-wise and maybe that's why I look fitter," Bolt said, quoted by the news source.
He said the May 26 race will be an indicator of whether the added muscle will help him shave seconds off of his time, and it will be the first time he's competed in nine months.
The Guardian has reported that an average training session for Bolt involves multiple 180-meter drills, which he aims to complete in less than 18 seconds.
Bolt didn't reveal to either news source what his weight-training regimen was, but it was likely intense given the athlete's standards and the public's expectations of him.
