Jason Momoa gets ripped for Conan, Game of Thrones

Hawaiian actor Jason Momoa is getting some significant screen time this summer as the star in the upcoming Conan the Barbarian movie and as a warrior king in HBO's Game of Thrones.

Both roles call for ripped abs and strong arms, so Momoa had to do some training and eat some serious protein in preparation for playing them.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Momoa put on 30 pounds of muscle to his 6'4" frame, which he achieved in part by consuming 56 chicken breasts per week in the days leading up to filming.

The article states that while Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted to using harmful anabolic steroids to play the original Conan, Momoa used more sound techniques like push-ups, pull-ups, squats and a squat-jump-push-up move called a burpee. In addition to mass quantities of poultry, Momoa also ate a lot of sweet potatoes, broccoli and peanut butter.

Website FreeMuscleBuildingTips.com reports that Momoa trained with stunt man David Leitch to prepare for his roles and engaged in a six-week martial arts training course.
