Can toning shoes build muscle?

Getting ripped can be difficult for many people who cannot find time to go to the gym. Many of these individuals try and use quick-fix methods that promise that a person will get ripped with little to no effort.

Recently, "toning" shoes have been gaining attention for their claim that a person can build muscle by simply walking. The Seattle Times ran an article examining the benefits of these shoes to determine if they live up to their promise.

The news provider reported that although muscles may work harder to balance on the shoes, there is little evidence to prove that they can truly help a person build muscle.

“Toning shoes appear to promise a quick-and-easy fitness solution, which we realize people are always looking for,” said Cedric Bryant, Ph.D., quoted by WebMD. “Unfortunately, these shoes do not deliver the fitness or muscle-toning benefits they claim."

WebMD reported that more studies need to be conducted to determine the long-term effects of wearing the shoes. For now, people looking to get ripped should probably stick to the gym for real results.
