Carano goes "Haywire" and shows actors how to fight

Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Gina Carano stars in action thriller Haywire, scheduled for release in early 2012, FOX news reports. Carano will play a secret service operative and act alongside veterans like Ewan McGregor and Michael Douglas.

The Los Angeles Times reported from Comic-Con that Carano and her costars will be performing their own stunts rather than using body doubles. A well known figure among women in mixed martial arts, Carano said she agreed to do the movie soon after her first cage loss in August 2009 to Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos.

Carano's MMA record is currently 7-1, with seven wins to her single loss. She's won 3 times each by knockout and decision and once by submission, according to mixedmartialarts.com. Her ripped abs and record are the product of constant training and workouts.

After the Comic-Con panel, the LA Times reports, one fan said, "Thanks to Steven Soderbergh for casting a girl who can really beat up the guys." Commenting on the possibilty of further acting roles, Carano told FOX news she would love to continue.
