Usually, bodybuilding is a pretty effective way to get in shape. It can be difficult to start a routine however, and many people need encouragement to being working out. Recently, the Moberly Monitor in Missouri reported on a man who's not letting the fact that he's in a wheelchair stop him from getting ripped.
According to the news provider, D. J. Haffecke won first place in the wheelchair division of the Missouri Bodybuilding Championship. Although he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Haffecke was captain of his high school football team.
He works out for an hour and a half a day, five days a week, with his dad encouraging him along the way. The two even compete in body building competitions together.
Wheelchair-bodybuilding.com reports that there are hundreds of wheelchair bodybuilding competitions that take place each year. Participants are from all ages and weight-classes as well as level of experience. These athletes prove that it's possible to overcome many obstacles and still build muscle.
