Exercise tips for the summer months

Many people see summer as a time where they might be able to get in more workouts to help them get ripped. Recently, the Redwood Falls Gazette offered some tips on things to avoid when working out in the summer months.

First, the news source suggested avoiding wearing cotton when going to exercise. Cotton can absorb moisture and cause chaffing on the skin. The Gazette recommended dry-fit material instead to remain comfortable while working out in the heat.

Next, the news provider reminded its readers that just because something is in liquid form does not mean that it's without calories. It's important to stay hydrated while working out, but that doesn't mean a person looking to get ripped has to reach for the sugary sports drinks.

"Staying hydrated is fundamentally important to a successful summer exercise regimen, in fact, for any activity," said Survivor consultant Adrian Cohen, MD, quoted by WebMD.

WebMD reported that if working out for less that 40 minutes, sticking with just water is fine. For longer workouts though, something that replenishes the sugar and salt lost during exercise may not be a bad idea.
