Protein-packed salads to help you get ripped

FOX's Good Day Philadelphia recently ran an article on muscle building salads, with personal trainer Kim Garrison describing two salads that may help muscle growth. The salads balance proteins with other nutrients to keep the body healthy.

The first salad contained onion and two boiled eggs, while the second was wild salmon and mango, and both included greens and avocado.

"Protein and carbohydrates work together to promote muscle synthesis," Alan Aragon, MS, told Men's Health magazine. The nutritionist also noted that fats support testosterone production, according to the source.

The magazine described a 650-calorie cobb salad with lettuce, tomato, avocado, snap peas and bacon topped with 4 ounces of hanger steak.

If you're wondering why avocado keeps showing up, it's probably because it contains a lot of nutrients like fiber, vitamin C and potassium. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also note that avocado has very little saturated fat and sodium.

Choosing healthy foods can help with bodybuilding, encouraging muscle growth without putting on extra fat. Lean meats, fish and shellfish, eggs, beans, peas, nuts and seeds are great sources of protein, according to the US Department of Agriculture, so they may help fuel your muscle growth.
