Which is better - full or split body workout?

People looking to get ripped have been given many different workout options over the years. There has been much debate recently over whether full body routines, where a person exercises the whole body each time they workout, or split body routines, where a person divides the body into sections and focuses on certain parts during each trip to the gym.

Dave Rule, known as "The Muscle Cook" finds that for people looking to build muscle, the full body method is the way to go.

"In many situations, the full body routine will hold a number of important advantages. First, it only calls for you to be in the gym two or three days per week. For those who are just starting out or for those who are participating in other sports or want more time for their cardio training, this proves to be an advantage since it frees up your schedule," said Rule.

Individuals looking to focus on a particular muscle group should choose the split workout method. The full body workout forces a person to spend a short period of time on each part of the body, while the split workout will give people time to concentrate on a muscle that may be more stubborn in getting ripped.
