Author offers tips for skinny guys looking to build muscle

Getting ripped is a difficult process for anyone, but can be easier for naturally larger people. There are many small-framed individuals out there who are still interested in building muscle, even if it may take a little more work. Just because you're small, doesn't mean bodybuilding will never work for you. Recently, exercise author Dan Merrell wrote and article offering advice to smaller guys looking to get ripped.

Merrell says there are three major body types, endomorph, which is short and stocky, ectomorph, which is tall and lean and mesomorph - medium build and medium height.

"If you would classify yourself as a “hardgainer” or “ectomorph” (otherwise known as a skinny guy), it’s vital that you put together a specific ectomorph workout that is going to get you the results you’re looking for. By far, the single biggest reason why most skinny guys never see the results they’re looking for is simply because they don’t have the right workout plan in place for their body," said Merrell.

The author suggested that skinnier guys should focus on a low volume, high intensity workout consisting of four to six exercises per workout, and doing three to four sets per exercise.
