Studies show the benefits of protein drinks and exercise

For years, athletes have been using protein shakes after a workout to aid muscles while they are trying to get ripped. During exercise, the muscles breakdown and then remodel and grow, particularly during weightlifting. Recent research has confirmed the benefits of protein rich dairy drinks for athletes.

Researchers found that muscle metabolism can be manipulated after exercise by having the proper diet post-workout.

"Muscle strength doesn't just happen on its own - our muscles need to be both encouraged (as happens via exercise) and nourished (as happens when we eat well). Now we have even more scientific proof for this common-sense concept," said spokesperson Shelley McGuire, PhD.

The scientists reported that the best time for consuming protein appeared to be immediately after exercise. They stated that it has been commonly believed for decades that consuming protein after exercise is good for the muscles, and now there is more evidence to support that.
