Aerobic exercise may increase a person's lifespan.

RipFire to build muscle

Getting ripped requires spending a dedicated amount of time lifting weights and building muscle. While this is the best way to get impressive resistance results, it's also important to participate in regular aerobic exercise for heart health. Researchers have found that an individual's capacity to perform this type of physical ability can be a good indicator of their longevity.

Researchers examined the effect of aerobic ability on the lifespan of an average mouse. They found that animals that were capable of high intrinsic treadmill running lived 25-48 percent longer than those who did not. Also, mice who engaged in physical activity had better cardiac health than others.

In the past, how long an elderly person could walk on a treadmill has been used to predict their future health, and these findings suggest that this may be an effective method to determine a person's risk of cardiovascular disease.

These results could have many implications in the field of treating and preventing heart disease, and add to the many reasons why exercise is important for overall health.
