Love your sports team? You may not be remembering the bad times.

RipFire to get ripped

Sports fans, ever find yourself so devoted to your team that you're trying to get ripped so you can look like your favorite athlete? Do you watch recordings over and over of time your team finally won the World Series or the Superbowl?

If you're a fan of sports you may find that these memories stay in your mind, while those devastating losses seem to be harder to remember. There is actually scientific reasoning behind this, as Psychologists Carolyn Breslin and Martin Safer from the Catholic University of America have found that people tend to remember games that their favorite sports teams win, and forget the ones they lose.

“People seem to remember positive events, not necessarily because of the experience, but because it is rehearsed more - we think about and share the experience instead of dwelling on the negative" said Safer.

The researchers came to their conclusion by questioning Red Sox and Yankees fans about the details of specific baseball seasons. The study participants remembered more about the seasons and games where their teams won, compared to the ones they lost.
