It's almost time to change the clocks, and while we gain an hour of sleep we will also lose some daylight. Recently, celebrity fitness consultant Bob Greene offered some exercise suggestions to help beat the winter blues that can come with those cold, dark days and boost your energy and mood.
First, switch up your workout routine - because you make not even be doing it right in the first place.
"Focus on incline - not speed. Want a more challenging treadmill workout? Don't focus on picking up the pace. In fact, you don't have to run at all. Instead, simply increase the incline. Walking on an incline is a terrific workout that is a lot easier on your joints," said Greene.
Next, Greene suggested looking at your diet to make sure you're getting enough healthy fats. Things such as olive oil and avocados are filled with "good" fats, while red meat, cream, whole and two percent milk have the wrong kind.
Finally, getting enough rest is important to let the body recover after a workout.
