New device watches what you eat for you

RipFire to get ripped

One of the most difficult things about trying to get ripped is monitoring your daily food intake. This is true for people who are trying to build muscle and those who are looking to lose weight, and researchers have now invented something to make monitoring your calories easier.

Scientists from the University of Pittsburgh have developed a product called an eButton that is worn like a pin and contains a small camera that monitors how much food you've eaten so you don't have to.

"eButton was created to combat obesity, which has become a widespread problem in the United States," said lead investigator Mingui Sun.

The device does more than just keep track of the food you're eating, it also determined how much time you've spent in front of a TV or computer screen versus outside. Finally, it also examines how long you spend eating at each meal and even whether you were interacting with people during the meal, which can affect how much you eat.

All of this is meant to give an individual a clear view of how their overall lifestyle is affecting their food choices, in an attempt to get people to re-evaluate their diet and exercise habits.
