Many people who are trying to get ripped underestimate the role that diet plays in building muscle. In response to this, nutrition experts have released some tips for how to eat in a way that will boost your ability to workout and participate in sports.
"What an athlete eats or drinks before, during and after a game directly impacts a player's performance," said Lisa Dorfman, M.S., board certified sports nutritionist with the University of Miami.
First, Dorfman warns that a pregame meal that is all carbohydrates is not ideal for athletic performance. Working in grilled chicken and fresh fruit will help give you an extra boost for the big game.
Next, she suggested keeping the three R's in mind - replenish, repair and rebuild. While doing this process, it's important to eat and drink things that contain a lot of protein to help your muscles rebuild.
Finally, remember to eat fruits and vegetables to get the essential vitamins and minerals to keep the body strong.
