The Mayo Clinic states that one of the best ways to stay committed to building muscle is to keep yourself interested in exercise by trying new things. Recently, a new fitness trend has surfaced for people who may be bored with the same old routine.
ThirdAge.com reports that Piloxing, a combination of Pilates and boxing is becoming more popular in gyms across the country. The exercise involves boxing moves such as punching and bouncing mixed with the ab muscle movement that comes from Pilates.
Third Age contributor Judy Kirkwood tried the workout and was singing its praises.
"It uses the principles of interval training – varying intense with moderate effort – to improve health most effectively," said Kirkwood.
The news source reports the Jensen is a former bodybuilding champion and former ballerina. When an injury ended her dancing career, she turned to Pilates to get back in shape. She created the program a few years ago, and it has attracted celebrities such as Hilary Duff and Kirsten Dunst.
