Americans aren't exercising in November

RipFire to get ripped

Anyone who is trying to get ripped knows that it takes a serious commitment, meaning that just because it's winter doesn't mean you get to take a break from working out. According to a recent Gallup Poll, however, Americans don't seem to be getting that message, as the number of U.S. residents who are exercising dwindled in November.

UPI reports that while exercise rates traditionally dip in the winter months, they were even lower than usual this November.

"The Gallup-Healthways Index indicated the percentage of adults who reported exercising frequently - for at least 30 minutes three or more days per week - slipped to 49.8 percent last month, down from 50.5 percent in November 2010," according to the news source.

The Mayo Clinic states that there's no reason you can't safely (and warmly) exercise in the winter. The organizations reminds people to dress in layers, pay attention to the wind conditions and choose appropriate gear. Remember, when the temperature hits negative numbers it may be best to do an indoor activity.
