Are you exercising too vigorously?

RipFire to get ripped

People who want to get ripped may push their body to it's limit, but is that safe? While a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that found that 25 percent of U.S. residents live an inactive lifestyle, The New York Times recently stated that physiologists are currently worried about an opposite trend - people pushing their bodies too far.

According to the news source, recreational athletes are increasingly participating in extreme exercise.

"People think a good workout is, ‘I am in a pile of sweat and puking,’ " said William Kraemer, a professor of kinesiology at the University of Connecticut, quoted by the news provider. "[But if that happens] it means you went much too quickly, and your body just can’t meet its demands."

While professional athletes are trained to recognize the signs that they are pushing themselves too far, the average guy or gal may not know that they are hurting themselves. This is why it's important to get regular rest inbetween activities and consult with a doctor before beginning an exercise routine.
