Don't let the winter ruin your exercise plan

RipFire to get ripped

If you're trying to get ripped, the winter may have wreaked havoc on your exercise routine. While many people flock to gyms in the colder months, some people prefer outdoor workouts and can't stay motivated while they're inside. Recently, Reuters offered some tips for people who still want to exercise outside during this icy season.

"Wear layers. That's really important when it's cold outside and make sure you're not becoming wet. Heavy cotton soaks up sweat, so you might want to stick with wool or polyester: something water repellent," said Jessica Matthews, an exercise physiologist with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), quoted by the news source.

Matthews suggested checking the weather to decide what you should wear. If the temperature is below zero, then be sure to wear a scarf or face mask, and you should always wear a hat and gloves.

The Mayo Clinic states that along with checking the temperature, you want to look at the wind chill factor as well. The wind is what will penetrate your clothes and cause you to feel cold while exercising outdoors.
