People who have chronic anxiety know that it seriously impact their lives. What women with this condition may not realize, however, is that they should try to get ripped to improve their symptoms. Recent research conducted by scientists at the University of Georgia found that regular exercise significantly reduces the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in women.
"Our findings add to the growing body of evidence of the positive effects of exercise training on anxiety," said researcher Matthew Herring. "Given the prevalence of GAD and drawbacks of current treatments, including expense and potential negative side effects, our findings are particularly exciting."
Female study participants participated in strength-training and cardiovascular exercise and experienced a reduction in worry symptoms, which are the primary cause of GAD. Furthermore, the individuals saw mild improvement in other symptoms such as irritability, feelings of tension, low energy and pain.
This suggests that exercise could be an inexpensive and simple way to potentially relieve the symptoms of this conditions without using medications. As researchers put it, the best part of the "workout" treatment is that it comes with few, if any, side effects.
