There are plenty of reasons to get ripped, from wanting to improve the way you look, become stronger or increase endurance. Recently, the American Cancer Society released guidelines for lifestyle habits people should adopt if they want to avoid developing the disease Among the suggestions was to stay in shape, which adds "cancer prevention" to the list of reasons to be fit.


According to the organization, individuals who want to keep from developing cancer should try to stay as lean as possible throughout their life without being underweight. Furthermore, the ACS recommends engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of high-intensity exercise a week in order to stay healthy.


The group also made some dietary suggestions. These included eating at least 2.5 cups for fruits and veggies each day, limiting consumption of processed and red meat, choosing whole grains and not drinking too much alcohol.


The organization recognized that following these guidelines isn't always easy, which is why they called upon communities to do more to ensure that their residents have access healthy food and safe environments to exercise.
