When tyring to get ripped, it can be difficult to know how much cardio exercise you should do when you're trying to build muscle. Recently, the Des Moines Register, spoke to personal trainer Manni Balignasay about how to cut fat with high-intensity cardio workouts while still building muscle.
Balignasay said that from a scientific standpoint it is impossible to cut fat while you are trying to gain muscle. Instead, you should use a specific diet and exercise regimen to help you maximize the amount of fat your turn into muscle.
He suggested alternating between days when at the gym when you practice high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts and weightlifting sessions
"On the days that you are doing your HITT program, focus on keeping overall caloric balance in deficit (burn more calories than you consume). Be sure to have a meal before and after your workouts to give you the energy to complete the exercise," said Balignasay, quoted by the news source.
WebMD states that if you want to get ripped while keeping your weight in check you should be sure to eat protein both before and after a workout to give your muscles the nutrients they need.
